Automotive manufacturing is an important part of the economy here in the Midwest. That is why we were excited to hear that FCA is planning to invest $400 million to convert an idled transmission plant in Indiana into an engine facility. This investment will add about 200 new jobs to the facility.

The idled transmission facility, located in Kokomo, Indiana, will build the GMET4 engine, which is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine currently used in the Jeep® Wrangler and Cherokee. In addition to the 200 new jobs, this investment will help retain 1,000 current jobs. This will bring the total FCA employment in Indiana to around 8,300 jobs.

FCA North America Chief Operating Officer Mark Stewart said, “While the 2.0-liter is a current engine option on the Jeep Wrangler and Cherokee models, a significant number of new technologies can be applied to this engine, making it relevant for the future. It will play an important role in our plans to offer electric engine options across 30 nameplates that FCA will bring to markets around the world by 2022.”

Once the facility is operational, which is expected in mid-2021, it will handle all U.S. production for this engine. This engine is currently built in Termoli, Italy. This will be the first time FCA has built engines in Indiana. Celebrate the brand’s other progressive steps when you test-drive a model at Ken Nelson Chrysler Dodge Jeep® Ram.

Get Back on Track with New Year’s Resolutions

New Year’s Resolutions - Dixon, IL
New Year’s Resolutions – Dixon, IL

We might be in the early days of 2020. Unfortunately, some of us have already given up on our goals and we are just a few weeks into January. Here are some strategies to get back on track with your New Year’s resolutions.

Think About Your Reasons

Why did you choose your resolution in the first place? If you can reconnect with your original motivations, it should help get you back on track. For example, if your goal was to pay off debt, remind yourself of the freedom you will feel once that debt is gone.

Use Setbacks to Reevaluate

If you feel like you have already failed, instead of giving up, use whatever setbacks you encountered to give yourself a new approach. If you are struggling to get a new job, consider rewriting your resume to focus on different strengths.

Ask for Help

We all work better when we have accountability. If you can find a friend or family member who can work alongside you or provide you with encouragement along the way, you are more likely to reach your goals.

If you need a new vehicle to accompany you on your 2020 adventures, stop by Ken Nelson Chrysler Dodge Jeep® Ram.

4 Ways to Give Back This Holiday Season

Give Back This Holiday Season - Dixon, IL
Give Back This Holiday Season – Dixon, IL

Helping others can give you a feeling of increased self-confidence and generate feelings of efficiency and competence. So, here are four ways to give back this holiday season.

Adopt A Soldier. The Adopt A Soldier program is great for teaching your kids about the military and the sacrifice they make to keep our country safe. Contact the organization for more information about assembling a holiday care package to send one someone in the military.

Donate food. Helping those in need really comes to fruition by donating food to a local food bank. They help those who need it get fed, and you can donate some of your own holiday favorites to share.

Sponsor a family. Unfortunately, not all families can afford gifts for their kids. If you can, consider sponsoring a family that asks for certain gifts and spread the holiday cheer around. You can usually find a giving tree at a local mall. Simply select one of the tags on the tree and buy the gift requested on it.

Help animals too. Helping others doesn’t have to be limited to other humans. A lot of families like to craft toys or gift treats to animals and drop them off at a local animal shelter. Letting your children create toys for animals is a great way to get them involved and really feel like they’re making a difference.

Ken Nelson Chrysler Dodge Jeep® Ram wishes you and your loved ones an enjoyable and generous holiday season. Remember to call us if your vehicle needs a service checkup.
