We might be in the early days of 2020. Unfortunately, some of
us have already given up on our goals and we are just a few weeks into January.
Here are some strategies to get back on track with your New Year’s resolutions.
Think About Your Reasons
Why did you choose your resolution in the first place? If
you can reconnect with your original motivations, it should help get you back
on track. For example, if your goal was to pay off debt, remind yourself of the
freedom you will feel once that debt is gone.
Use Setbacks to Reevaluate
If you feel like you have already failed, instead of giving
up, use whatever setbacks you encountered to give yourself a new approach. If
you are struggling to get a new job, consider rewriting your resume to focus on
Ask for Help
We all work better when we have accountability. If you can
find a friend or family member who can work alongside you or provide you with
encouragement along the way, you are more likely to reach your goals.
Helping others can give you a feeling of increased self-confidence
and generate feelings of efficiency and competence. So, here are four ways to
give back this holiday season.
Adopt A Soldier. The Adopt A Soldier program is great for teaching your kids about the military and the sacrifice they make to keep our country safe. Contact the organization for more information about assembling a holiday care package to send one someone in the military.
Donate food. Helping those in need really comes to
fruition by donating food to a local food bank. They help those who need it get
fed, and you can donate some of your own holiday favorites to share.
Sponsor a family. Unfortunately, not all families can
afford gifts for their kids. If you can, consider sponsoring a family that asks
for certain gifts and spread the holiday cheer around. You can usually find a
giving tree at a local mall. Simply select one of the tags on the tree and buy
the gift requested on it.
Help animals too. Helping others doesn’t have to be limited to other humans. A lot of families like to craft toys or gift treats to animals and drop them off at a local animal shelter. Letting your children create toys for animals is a great way to get them involved and really feel like they’re making a difference.

Winter in Dixon, Illinois can be tough to enjoy if you don’t
know where to look for the fun. Here are three seasonal adventures in the Dixon
area that you should take.
Dixon Christmas Walk
The annual downtown Dixon Christmas Walk takes place on Friday, Dec. 6, starting at 6 p.m. It’s the perfect setting to enjoy a fun wintry evening with your family. Festivities include horse and carriage rides, live ice sculptures, Santa Claus, food and craft vendors, wares from local merchants, and much more.
Byron Forest Preserve
When winter hits Illinois in full force, the Byron Forest Preserve has miles of trails to explore on cross-country skis. Pack a lunch and a thermos of hot chocolate, then spend a whole day on the trails to build memories with your loved ones. You can also bring along some sleds to hone your skills at this sport.
Matthiessen State Park
Just under an hour’s drive southeast of Dixon, Matthiessen State Park makes a delightful day trip. Witness canyons, streams, prairie, and forest as you explore the park grounds, then get a photo op by the frozen waterfall to commemorate your trip.
There are plenty of signs that your tires need attention and/or replacement well before you’re stranded on the road with a flat. To help prevent a tire blowout, learn the following signs of when to buy new tires.
Vanishing tread depth
Your tires should not be smooth. They should always possess
adequate tread depth — never less than 1/16 of an inch, more if you’re
constantly driving on surfaces that are wet. Look for the tread wear indicator
bars if your tires are newer. The appearance of one of more these bars signal
that the tread is getting low and it’s time for new tires.
Take a good look your tire’s sidewall — if you notice any
damage, track, cuts or cracks, your tire is leaking or starting to leak. Since
proper inflation is key to your safety on the road, helping to prevent
dangerous blowouts, any signs of a leak should be inspected immediately by our
service professionals at Ken Nelson Chrysler Dodge Jeep® Ram.
Outer surface bulges
Even if the tread depth of your tires is correct and there’s
no damage in the sidewalls, you can still be at risk from a tire blowout if the
outer surface of the tire has a blister or bulge, signs that the tire is
U.S. News & World Report recently launched
a list of “Future Trucks 2020: The Best New Pickup Trucks Arriving Next Year.”
The redesigned 2020 Ram HD made the publication’s list of heavy-duty pickup
trucks for drivers to check out if they’re looking for something cutting-edge.
The Ram HD has always been known for its incredible towing and hauling
capabilities and Ram’s team of engineers and designers took its power to the
next level with this new redesign.
The 2020 Ram HD’s available 6.7-liter inline-six with an automatic transmission cranks out 400 HP and a whopping best-in-class torque of up to 1,000 lb-ft. Other engine options include a turbo-diesel option as well as a Hemi® V8. The V8, matched to an eight-speed automatic, is the Ram HD’s standard engine.
Standard safety features also made the cut,
including automatic emergency braking and selectable tire pressures. A standard
360-degree camera system surpasses competitors, who typically only offer rear
backup cameras standard but provide comparable systems as additional options.
U.S. News also cited the 2020 Ram HD’s
high-strength steel frame in an age where competitors experiment with other,
lighter materials gives it an extra layer of reliability and durability. The
